My name is Leena Michai Villegas-Hermosillo, daughter of Luis Fernando Villegas and Carmen Susan Villegas-Hermosillo. I am the granddaughter of Luis Omar Hermosillo, Laurie Hermosillo-Sedillo, Elvia Villegas and Juan Villegas. I have a huge family. My mom’s father’s families, the Hermosillo family, make up a big part of my life. My mom’s mother’s families, the Sedillo family, also make up a big part of my life. Unfortunately I don’t know very much about my fathers’ side of the family, I pretty much just know about the immediate members of his family.
The Hermosillo and Sedillo family are my biggest influences. Since I see them almost every day I’ve learned mostly about their heritage and past rather than my fathers’ family whom I see every now and then for holidays or birthdays. What I’ve learned about the Hermosillo’s is that they were very attentive people. They took care of everyone in their ranch in Mexico and that they were known as very successful people. I learned that my great-grandfather and great-uncle of, the Hermosillo family were successful men owning their own businesses and running half of San Isabel Chihuahua, the Hermosillo’s home town. The Sedillo family that I know of is made up of six beautiful women. The Sedillo women, from oldest to youngest, are Socorro Chavez, Flora Colunga, Irene Gutierrez, Laurie Hermosillo, Joann Abeyta, and Elizabeth Buruato. What I’ve learned about the Sedillo part of my family is that they were poor people who climbed up to the top and became successful after marriage. Both Hermosillo and Sedillo family are Mexican descent and Mexican-American descent.
The Villegas family is not that much of an influence to my life. I know only the immediate members of the family. The Villegas family is made up of my grandmother Elvia Villegas, my grandfather Juan Villegas, my uncle’s Juan Villegas and Jesus Villegas and my aunt Yazmine Villegas. I don’t know very much about the Villegas family but what I do know is that they are hard working people never stop working. Most of the Villegas family lives in El Paso, Texas the rest live in Cuidad Juarez de Chihuahua and in other parts of Texas.
